Monstera adansonii is often mistaken for the much rarer and more expensive Monstera obliqua. If you see an “obliqua” at a reasonable price, it’s almost certainly an adansonii. While obliqua has ultra-thin, hole-filled leaves, adansonii offers a sturdier, more accessible alternative with just as much visual appeal.
Native to the shaded jungles of Central and South America, its signature holes help light reach lower leaves. As a houseplant, those holes just make it look striking.
It’s easy to care for: provide medium light, moderate watering, and a monthly liquid fertiliser feed in spring and summer.
